An Obli — short for OBSCUREDE LIGHT visual — is a living field of generative art. Not a recording, not a static image. A continuously evolving system governed by mathematics, physics, and light.

Each Obli is built from first principles: wave interference, fluid dynamics, particle physics, fractal geometry, chromatic optics. The same forces that produce aurora borealis, the branching of mycelium, and the spiraling of galaxies — expressed in real time through color, motion, and form.

When you hold down on an Obli, you interact with it. When music plays, it listens and responds. Every session is unique. Every field behaves differently under different conditions.

There are no rules to watching an Obli. Only the invitation to look deeply, to let pattern and motion quiet the thinking mind, and to see — perhaps — something of the hidden structure beneath visible things.

OBSCUREDE LIGHT was designed and built in collaboration with Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic.

Every visualization algorithm, the gate puzzle, the audio-reactive system, the Obli Library, and the generative architecture were developed through an iterative creative dialogue between human vision and machine reasoning.

The ideas, aesthetic direction, and intent are human. The implementation — tens of thousands of lines of JavaScript, canvas mathematics, and visual logic — was written with Claude as a partner.

We believe in transparency about AI involvement in creative work. This site exists because two kinds of intelligence found something worth building together.
